His first book, Called Up: Ballplayers Remember Becoming Major Leaguers, captured the feelings and emotions of becoming a major league baseball player.

Ford's second book, Beyond the Last Inning: Life and Careers After Playing Professional Baseball, will detail the post-playing career transitions of players, and is due to be released in 2026.
